An ICO Special Presentation
Canada’s Yukon and “The Cremation of Sam McGee”
Join us for a glimpse into the heady, dangerous days of the Yukon Gold Rush, and the courage of those who braved extreme hardship in search of forum, as told by Canada’s beloved poet, Rober Service.
We will make a virtual trip to Yukon to learn about its vibrant culture, larger-than- life origin stories and stunning geography. There, you will experience the desperate days and frigid nights of the gold rush -- a remarkable time in Canada’s history - in our reading of Service’s masterpiece ballad, "The Cremation of Sam McGee." This unforgetable story, told through the eyes of a doomed gold prospector, will be accompanied by a showing of the distinctive and bright-coloured paintings by Canadian artist Ted Harrison.
Date: January25, 2022
Time: 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m Eastern Time
