Arts & Heritage

Ottawa is a city filled with fine examples of art, sculptures, museums, historical buildings, and national monuments. This committee organizes events at various times through the year to experience the many historical or artistic attractions in or around Ottawa.

Bridge II

Looking for an afternoon of Duplicate Bridge? Join the ICO Bridge II group and play with Canadians and Internationals. It’s a game that unites the world! Players do need to have some knowledge of the game and of basic bridge conventions such as: Jacoby 2NT; Stayman; Transfers; Pre-emptive openings; Blackwood; Gerber; Strong openers 2club and 2NT.  The group meets every second Monday in a Canadian home.

Food is an important means of expressing hospitality and cultural identity. Through the International Cooking program, we share recipes, techniques and friendship from around the globe. Join our journey of discovering, preparing and creating foods that say “home”, regardless of where that is!

Book Club

Join us for insights and conversation about popular authors and titles.  Watch for special events throughout the year!

Monia Mazigh is a Canadian author and academic, best known for her efforts to free her husband, Maher Arar, from a Syrian prison. A resident of Ottawa, she was the New Democratic candidate for the riding of Ottawa South in the 2004 federal election.

Monia Mazigh weaves together the voices of a mother and a daughter at two pivotal moments in history, the Tunisian Bread Riots in 1984 and the start of the Arab Spring in 2010. We welcome Monia as she introduces us to this bracing, vivid story that captures life inside a revolution.

ICO Talks

This unique program, organized by Canadian as well as International members of the ICO, connects you with live and virtual speakers on a wide range of engaging topics.

Mah Jong

A traditional Chinese tile game where no experience is needed to enjoy playing it. The group meets every second Monday, alternating with Bridge II, and instruction is provided for beginners. We begin with light refreshments and conversation – an afternoon of fun is guaranteed!
